Getting started
What is EQfy - Louder Volume?
EQfy - Louder Volume is an iPhone app that makes the music you play in it louder and fuller. It combines Volume Boost up to 200%, Bass Boost, a 7-band equalizer, headphone balance, 3D Audio and an AI Studio with a free music library and player that also works offline. See all features.
Is EQfy free?
Yes. EQfy is free to download, and Volume Boost and the music library and player are free to use. Bass Boost, the equalizer, headphone balance, 3D Audio, playback speed, the haptic player and export are part of the optional Premium subscription.
Is EQfy the same app as Volume Booster Sound Amplifier on the App Store?
Yes. On the US App Store, EQfy - Louder Volume is listed as Volume Booster Sound Amplifier, and the listing name can differ in other countries. It's the same app: open it on the App Store.
Which iPhones and languages does EQfy support?
EQfy is built for iPhone and requires iOS 16 or later. The app is available in 25 languages.
Volume & bass
How much louder can EQfy make my iPhone?
Volume Boost goes from 100% to 200%, which adds up to +12 dB of gain on top of your iPhone volume for songs played in EQfy. Use it moderately. Learn more in how to make your iPhone louder than max volume and is volume boosting safe.
Does the boost work with the iPhone speaker and headphones?
Yes. EQfy's tools apply to everything EQfy plays, whether you listen through the iPhone speaker, wired headphones or AirPods. For more tips, see how to make AirPods louder.
Why can't EQfy boost Spotify, YouTube or calls?
iOS sandboxing only lets EQfy process audio played inside EQfy. It can't boost Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music streaming, Netflix, phone or FaceTime calls, notifications or the system volume. For fixes that help everywhere, see iPhone volume too low.
Can I boost songs from Apple Music?
Songs from an Apple Music subscription, and other protected files, play in EQfy, but the enhancement tools aren't available for them because iOS doesn't allow apps to process protected audio. Purchased or unprotected songs from your Music library and files you import from Files work with every tool.
How does Bass Boost work?
Bass Boost adds up to +12 dB with a low-shelf boost centered around 200 Hz, tuned so small iPhone speakers can actually reproduce it. It's part of Premium. See how to boost bass on iPhone.
Sound tools
What does EQfy's equalizer include?
Seven bands (32 Hz, 64 Hz, 200 Hz, 500 Hz, 1 kHz, 4 kHz and 16 kHz) plus a preamp, 9 presets (Rock, Jazz, Electronic, Classical, Reggae, Rap, R&B, Dance and Acoustic), a Custom setting and a Reset button. See the best EQ settings for iPhone by genre.
What is 3D Audio in EQfy?
It's an in-app effect with two modes: Reverb, with 9 room, hall and chamber presets, and 3D Source, which moves the sound around you with 4 Auto Motion patterns (bilateral, orbit, figure-eight and breathing) and can use head tracking with supported AirPods. It isn't Apple Spatial Audio or Dolby Atmos. 3D audio on iPhone, explained covers the difference.
Can I fix one earbud sounding louder than the other?
For songs played in EQfy, the Headphones tab has a left/right audio balance slider with a Centre button to reset it. See how to fix left/right headphone balance on iPhone.
Can I change playback speed or export enhanced songs?
Yes, with Premium. You can set playback speed from 0.5× to 2×, save and share the enhanced audio file, and use the haptic player, which makes your iPhone vibrate to the beat.
AI Studio
What's in AI Studio?
AI Studio has four tools: Music Generator (compose a song from a text prompt, with an optional Force instrumental switch), Sound Effects, Text to Speech and Noise Reducer. All of them need an internet connection. Read the AI song generator guide.
How do AI credits work?
AI Studio is credit-based. Premium includes Music Generator, Sound Effects and Text to Speech; without Premium these tools use credits, and credit packs are available in the app. Noise Reducer always uses credits, for subscribers too.
Pricing & subscription
What does Premium include?
Premium unlocks Bass Boost, the 7-band equalizer, headphone balance, 3D Audio, playback speed, the haptic player and export, and includes Music Generator, Sound Effects and Text to Speech in AI Studio. Volume Boost and the music player stay free for everyone.
How much does Premium cost, and is there a free trial?
Premium is a weekly or yearly subscription. In the US it costs $1.99 per week or $27.99 per year; prices vary by country, and the App Store shows your local price before you confirm. Eligible plans start with a free trial.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are billed and managed by Apple. On your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, choose the EQfy subscription and tap Cancel Subscription. Apple explains the steps in Cancel a subscription from Apple.
