iPhone Duo support is coming to EQfy - Louder Volume in v2.2.23, the next update. On the big inner display, the app will use the full screen instead of a letter-boxed phone layout, with sidebar navigation and two-column screens. That will put EQfy among the iPhone Duo apps that make real use of the extra space. The same update will also give every iPhone a side-by-side player in landscape.

Not out yet: the current App Store version is 2.2.22. Everything below describes v2.2.23, which will arrive as a regular update.

Why iPhone Duo needs its own layout

iPhone Duo is Apple's first foldable iPhone. According to Apple's iPhone Duo page, it opens to a 7.6-inch inner display and closes to a 5.4-inch outer display. An app designed only for phone-sized screens leaves much of that inner display unused. Version 2.2.23 will make EQfy feel at home on both screens, so the volume booster on iPhone Duo will be as easy to use open as it is closed.

What will change on the inner display

When you unfold iPhone Duo, EQfy will fill the whole inner display and rearrange its screens to suit the width.

On iOS 27, EQfy's four sections (Home, Music, AI Studio and Settings) will move into a sidebar on the inner display. You'll switch sections from the side of the screen instead of the bottom. When the window is narrow, the familiar tab bar will stay.

Home in two columns

The tool cards and your Recent list will sit side by side. You'll be able to start a boost or reopen a recent track from the same view, without scrolling between them.

A two-column player

Open any track and the active tool will sit in one column, whether it's the Volume or Bass dial, the EQ sliders, the Headphones balance or 3D Audio. The track info and playback controls will sit in the other. You'll see the dial and the controls at the same time.

A wider AI Studio

The AI Studio grid will grow from two columns to four on wide displays, so Music Generator, Sound Effects, Text to Speech and Noise Reducer will fit in a single row.

Readable forms and sheets

Settings, the AI forms and the promo-code screen will keep a comfortable reading width instead of stretching edge to edge. The subscription screen will open as a page sheet on wide layouts.

Landscape will get better on every iPhone

The two-column player isn't only for iPhone Duo. In v2.2.23 it will also appear whenever you turn any iPhone to landscape. That will fix a real annoyance: in landscape, parts of the player's controls can be clipped today. After the update, the tool and the playback controls will sit next to each other and stay fully visible.

On the outer display

Closed, iPhone Duo works like a compact iPhone, and EQfy will keep its familiar phone layouts there, with a compact floating tab bar on the right edge. All of the screenshots below were taken on the outer display.

Also coming in v2.2.23

  • A short welcome quiz that builds a personal sound profile based on how you listen.
  • Earlier trial reminders: free-trial reminders will arrive before your trial ends.
  • A fix for a blank screen when adding songs from your Music library on Home.

Same sound tools, more room

The layout will be new; the sound tools stay the same. On iPhone Duo you'll get everything EQfy offers on any iPhone:

Volume Boost and the music player are free. The other player tools are part of Premium.

Good to know: EQfy boosts and shapes audio played inside EQfy only. iOS doesn't let it process Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music streaming, phone or FaceTime calls, and that doesn't change on iPhone Duo.

How to get it

v2.2.23 will arrive as a normal App Store update, so if you already have EQfy, you'll get the new layouts once you update. If you don't have it yet, EQfy is free to download and needs iOS 16 or later. Find it on the App Store as Volume Booster Sound Amplifier, or open the App Store page. Questions?
